Electoral commission appoints Julius Mucunguzi as their new spokesperson.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has appointed Julius Mucunguzi as its new spokesperson.
“Julius Mucunguzi emerged as the best candidate during the interviews conducted last year, to fill the position of Head of Public Relations, Electoral Commission,” said EC’s Principal Public Relations Officer, Paul Bukenya in a statement on Friday.
“Accordingly, a letter of appointment has been issued to him, and he will assume office on 1st April 2024,” said Bukenya.
Bukenya has been serving as EC’s spokesperson since 2020 when Jotham Taremwa left the electoral body.
Mucunguzi previously served as the principal advisor on media relations and strategic communications to the Prime Minister and headed the Communications Department of the Office of the Prime Minister.
He was also the Communications Advisor at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London, UK and Senior Communications Officer at World Vision.
Between 2000-2006, Mucunguzi taught news writing and reporting at Makerere University.
“We warmly welcome him (Mucunguzi) to the Electoral Commission family and wish him all the best in his duties,” said Bukenya.
