Opio found with government store arrested.
Opio Dicken Adunguz is under investigation by police in the Alebtong district for alleged theft and possession of government stores.
Opio, who is currently in police custody, was arrested following a complaint filed at the police station by Okello Jimmy, the Assistant RDC of Alebtong District.
It is alleged that on August 12, 2024 at around 11am, the Assistant RDC received information that Opio Dicken Adunguz, a nursing officer and a resident of corner Abako village, Ojul parish, Awei sub-county in Alebtong district, had government drugs in his drug shop.
According to the police report, Okello Gilbert, the Deputy RDC of Alebtong, later went to the Awei Police Station and was assigned two officers.
They went to the aforementioned drugstore to conduct an operation.
North Kyoga Regional Police PRO, SP Jimmy Patrick Okema stated that police officers searched the drug shop and discovered an empty box labelled UG.
A buffer testing strip, an HCG strip, an empty malaria testing strip, a urinary bag labelled UG, and Coartem tablets labelled “not for sale.”
Okema went on to say that all of the empty boxes were collected and taken to Alebtong CPS along with the suspect for further investigation.
Police added that the recovered drugs were verified by the DHO of Alebtong district and displayed following documentation by crime officers.“We want to thank the whistleblower and the quick actions of the Assistant and Deputy RDC of Alebtong, who received the information and acted as required; the presence of Assistant and Deputy RDCs energises our operations,” SP Okema added.
Opio’s file was forwarded to the Resident City State Attorney for review and legal advice.
