Security forces in Lira City have achieved a significant milestone in combating crime within the community.
In a recent operation, over 17 criminal suspects were apprehended by security personnel in Lira City as Uganda joined the global community in celebrating Christmas Day.
The police in the Lira City West Division executed a coordinated intelligence operation, led by the authorities of Lira City West, in the Teso-Bar area on December 16, 2024, resulting in the arrest of 17 individuals.
According to SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, all suspects have been transported to the Lira City West Division Headquarters in Ojwina for detention. Screening procedures are currently underway, and statements are being recorded. Their files will subsequently be submitted to the Regional Criminal and Serious Crimes Authority (RCSA) for review and legal guidance prior to their court appearances.
Okema emphasized that security forces are fully prepared to ensure a peaceful environment during the Christmas season. He urged the public to collaborate closely with the police to foster a crime-free society.
