Dokolo district register 27,000 cases of malaria in just 90 days.
Dokolo district local government through ministry of health is set to roll you indoor Residual spraying in a bid to fight the spread of malaria.
Eugene Odongo, assistant District Health Officer (DHO) in charge of administration confirmed this during a sensitization meeting of Sub county taskforce in Okwongodul sub county Dokolo district.
According to Odongo, the exercise will start from November 6, 2023 up to December 2, 2023 in six sub counties.
Babra Akech the Resident District Commissioner urged the locals to embrace the program and corporate with the spray operators.
Over 27,000 malaria cases have been registered in Dokolo district within a space of 17 weeks according to data released by the district health department biostatistician.
The data shows that from January to March 2023, the district registered 27,899 cases of malaria across Outpatient Department (OPD). Of these, 4% were severe, the data further indicates.
In April, the district malaria epidemic response meeting came up with strong resolutions including the use of Parish Development Model structures to reach the community and sensitize them about Malaria.
Dokolo district with an overall population of 227,100, 14 sub-counties/town councils, 71 parishes, and 484 villages has only 1 health center IV, 9 health center III, and 7 health center II.
