Ghetto Youth train to be Job creators- Minister Kabanda.
Minister for Kampala and metropolitan affairs Hajat Minsa Kabanda presided over the graduation ceremony of Ghetto Youths trained by the Government of Uganda through the Makerere University Research and Innovation Fund under a project named “KAMPALA GHETTO YOUTH TRAINING FOR ENTREPRENEURIAL PROMOTION” (KGYTEP).
The training was conducted by researchers from the College of Education and External Studies and is aimed at equipping Ghetto Youth with entrepreneurial skills.
Minister Kabanda also called upon the youth to be mostly job creators and not job seekers. In her concluding remarks, she emphasized that the ghetto youth should always register and are entitled to benefit from all available government programs such as Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, and any other program aimed at eradicating poverty.
The trainees have undergone extensive training for several weeks, they will be grouped and given capital to start-up businesses.
