Lorry kills two along Lira-Soroti highway.

Two people have been confirmed dead in an accident which occurred on the 26th Aug 2023 at around 11:50 hours in Amach market around majan areas.

It’s alleged that 3 vehicles got involved where motorvehicle Reg No UBN 249Z lorry fuso which had carried coca cola products lost control and rammed into a stationary vehicle Registration Number UBD 603W Isuzu and a trailer KCL 963S/ZB 9924 which coming from Dokolo side.

The two dead bodies have been identified as Atim Irene 30 yrs old a resident of Teso bar and Akoli Proscovia 38 yrs old resident of cuk kibang in Lira-City West Division.
Bodies conveyed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital’s mortuary pending postmortem meanwhile all the vehicles towed to Lira-City CPS pending IOV inspection.

Following the incident SP Jimmy Patrick Okema confirmed the matter, and said the cause of the accident is under investigation though preliminary findings indicates that M/V UBN 249Z which had carried coca cola products was over speeding.
