Nine students arrested over a strike at school in Dokolo.
Students of Kangai secondary school in Kangai Sub County, Dokolo district went on strike to demand immediate transfer of the school deputy head teacher over nine accusations including; corruption and refusal to teach learners.
The students threw stones on top of the classes and stopped vehicles movements, however, police from Dokolo central police station arrived and dispersed them off.
In their letter to the head teacher of Kangai secondary school, they accused Denis Okeng of collecting Shs. 615,000 from 12 students from Dokolo progressive who transferred to the school for registration yet each student had to pay only 20,000 shillings.
They also accused Okeng of collecting school fees from students but reportedly misused and mismanaged funds meant for maize milling, refusal to teach students among other concerns.
The vice chairman of Kangai Sub County Morris Oyee who doubles as chairman PTA of Kangai secondary school confirmed the strike but said no property was destroyed by the students.
Oyee said they will have Okeng transferred following complaints against him from parents and some teachers.
Dokolo District police commander, Patience Baganzi said they have arrested nine students in helping them for investigations.
