NRM chairperson arrested on allegation of theft in Oyam district.
Police at Oyam Central Police Station is the holding the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party chairperson of Aleka Sub County, Tom Acuma over allegation of theft, threatening violence and malicious damage.
Acuma is accused of participating in the burning of houses in Aleka Sub County between January and February this year.
According to a source who pleaded for anonymity, who was working at the home of Acuma hit one of the people they were drinking alcohol with the chair before he ran into a house from where he hid and hanged himself.
After the incident, Acuma and five others went and destroyed property at the home where his employee committed suicide and also burnt down houses and threatened the family members.
Police later arrested five people who revealed that they were mobilized by Acuma Tom to commit the crime.
Philips Ogile Jakayo the NRM spokesperson of Oyam district also chairman lc3 of Aleka Sub county confirmed Acuma’s arrest and said he is being detained at Oyam CPS.
Meanwhile Jimmy Patrick okema the police spoke person for North kyoga region said he had not yet got concrete information of the arrest
