Three Alebtong district officials and CAO of Amuria recorded statements over corruption.
Three staff of Alebtong district and the CAO of Amuria district Canon George Adoko have recorded statements in relation to an investigation into corruption tendencies instituted by the State House anti-corruption unit over shoddy work at Anara health center II that is being upgraded to health center III status.
In 2019, government gave Alebtong district 600 million shillings for upgrade of Anara health center III and the contract for the project was awarded to Power and Bay Company Ltd.
The project was to include; construction of a general ward, renovation of the OPD, construction of two staff houses, a latrine, placenta pit, and rubbish pit.
However, Theophilas Obua the councilor of Abia Sub County wrote to the State House anti-corruption unit and reported some of the defects cited in the buildings.
Recently, investigators from the State House anti-corruption unit visited Anara health center III to probe the complaints and found that some of the structures had cracks while some pipes were also found to be leaking.
Alebtong district vice chairman Boniface Apunyu said that so far, four people have recorded statements over the matter.
Apunyu cited some of the district staff who have recorded statements as; district engineer, David Puce, engineer in charge construction, Andrew Max Ogwok, District Health Officer, Dr. Tony Odung and Amuria district CAO, Canon George Adoko who was working in Alebtong district at the time.
