Employer of the year awards launched
Federation of Uganda Employers (FUE) has launched this year’s edition of Employer of the Year Awards (EYA) Survey with a focus on Employer Competitiveness in the Post COVID-19.
Ms. Annet Nakawunde, the federation Vice Chairperson in her opening remarks emphasised the need for Employers to embrace innovation & adapt digital technology to continue work operations.
She assured the participants of a transparent & fair survey process.
“The Covid 19 Pandemic has had a significant impact on the global economy and Uganda has been no exception. However the pandemic has also presented an opportunity for businesses to rethink their operations and become more competitive, “Nakawunde said.
She said employers in Uganda cam compete in the post covid 19 era by investing in innovations, adopting new technologies to improve efficiency and productivity and investing into training of staff to ensure that the workforce has the skills they need to succeed in the future of work.
Nakawunde encouraged all Employers in Uganda to apply for the award adding tgat it is agreat way to way yo show case their achievements and inspire others.
l would like to thank organizers For its work in supporting employers in Uganda. The FUE is a valuable resource for businesses of all sizes. It provides advocacy, training, and other services to help Employers succeed,” she stressed.
Brenda Kyomuhendo, Employer 9f the Year Award Technical Committee Chairperson said EYA technical Committee is determined to work towards improving human resource practices at the workplace.
She noted that the participation of CEOs & business leaders is key to influence policy formulation & advance economic development.
Stephen Opio, Technical Advisor, International Labour Organization commended federation for the various categories to re cognise young Employers, refugees & People with Disability in the prestigious awards ceremony.
He implored Employers & HR practioners to embrace human-centered approaches in the world of work.
“EYA is a significant to boost productivity,improve employment relations & enhance decent work. As a key development partner, Enabel in Uganda is committed to support initiatives to ensure employee well-being to promote decent work.

Meanwhile Ronald Bbosa,the Human Resource Managers Association President applauded Federation for aiming to re cognise Employer Competitiveness in the world of work through the EYA Survey.
He encouraged HR practioners to actively participate in the survey to benchmark best business practices.
The Employer of the Year Award is am opportunity to recognize celebrate employers who are leading the way in terms of competitiveness.
