Lango to hosts surgical camp. Dr Jane Ruth Aceng

The development was made by the Health Minister Dr Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero while hosting the president of surgeons during the pre-camp visit for the Lango Surgical camp and Registrars Symposium scheduled for September 10-16, July,2023.

The Association of Surgeons of Uganda is a body that brings together over 400 qualified surgeons and those in training to advance surgical healthcare in Uganda.

According to Dr Aceng,the pre-camp Will be conducted in the health facilities in nine districts in the Region including Lira Regional Referral hospital.

The health facilities include Dokolo health center 1V, in Dokolo district,Orum H/C4 in otuke district,Anyeke H/C4 in Oyam district,Aboke health center 1V in kole district,Ogur health center 1V in Lira district, Aduku health center 1V in kwania district among others.

Prof Frank Asiimwe, the president of the Uganda Surgeons Association says
“over the past 25yrs,we have conducted annual surgical camps moving From one region of the country to another with the aim of reducing the burden of surgical disease,” Prof Asiimwe said on Monday at Lira City council hall.

He added that, "the population in selected region which would otherwise have limited access to surgery consequently changing the lives of the people in the community who go on productive Life and for some having their dignity restored," He added.


Prof Asiimwe noted that in  the year 2022 they were in  Bukedi Region before COVID  19 for the same then in 2019, they moved to Bunyoro region and 2018 the program was in Kigezi.

“And now this year 2023, Lango Will host this year’s pre-camp,in 2024,we shall conduct the pre-camp in Ankole region before the closure of the program that Will take place in West Nile region in the year 2025,”He added.

Mr Lawrence Egole, the Lira Resident City Commissioner urged everyone in the Region to takes this opportunity as it’s one of the achievement from government of Uganda aimed at protecting the lives of People .
