Lira city Police holding one over murder
The security in Lira City West Division is investigating the suspected murder of Orima Isaac, 21, a resident of Owiti cell, Amuca ward in Lira City West.
According to the PRO of North Kyoga, SP Jimmy Okema, the crime took place February 15, 2024, at around 1:30 am from the above location.
SP Okema added that on February 15, 2024, at around 1:00 am both the suspect, Ego Morrish, 24, and the deceased were at Amuca Trading Centre where they were spending leisure time.
However, they picked up a quarrel which resulted in a fight and Ego Morrish hit Orima with a piece of timber, he collapsed and died instantly, Okema stated.
A report was registered at Ojwina Police Station by Adile Benedict, 54, and immediately a team of Police detectives from Lira City West Division Station led by D/OC CID together with the homicide team and others went to the scene.
A case of murder has been registered at Lira City West Division under CRB: 173/2024 against the suspect.
The suspect has been arrested and is ready to support the investigation before his file is submitted to the Resident City State Attorney for perusal and legal advice.
“This is not the first time we are registering such a case, we suspect people are very traumatised looking at the series of events. We call upon available NGOs, local leadership, clan leaders and religious leaders to interest themselves in these continued cases of murders,” SP Okema appealed.
“As Police, we are committed to seeing that justice prevails”, he told pearl fm news desk.
