Dokolo will elect their new woman MP on march 21

The chairperson of electoral
commission justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama on Monday February launched the Dokolo district by election roadmap.

The launch was witnessed by hundreds of stakeholders, voter’s and MP hopefuls at Dokolo technical school in Dokolo district.

The main election according to justice Simon mugenyi Byabakama Will take place on 21, March,2024,Which Dokolo will elect their New district woman member of Parliament after the seat became vacant following the death of Cecilia Atim ogwal who died on 18, January.

The E.C chairperson said roadmap will begin with validating and displaying the voters registers for all the polling stations in the district.While Nomination of candidates will take place on 11-12 March at the office of the returning officer, then the campaigns will run for only one week starting from 13-19 in March.

 The E.C, Will also conduct by elections for councilor in Bata Sub county And Town council and others areas.

Justice Byabakama said that Dokolo by election is going to be free and fair, urging candidates to follow electroal guidance as the law requires to avoid inconvenience.

Abang Beatrice kia Molly who Will run on an independent ticket expresses warries about the time given to them to campaign saying the district is too Big.

Dr Grace Anna Atine, another hopeful candidates said the by election must form peace and unity for the people of Dokolo, adding that a leaders is always chosen by God,she said that Dokolo district needs a leaders who can lobby both from government And non governmental organization.

Dr Rosemary Alwoc daughter of the former Dokolo MP Cecilia Atim ogwal will complete to replace her mother on the FDC ticket.

She told pearl fm that she would continue supporting some of the school children that her late mother was supporting, Also pledged to unite the people of Dokolo.

More than 12 candidates they have shown their interest to replace the vacant position, like Dr Ruth France Atala, Janet Rose Adongo, Rebecca Arao, Sarah Aguti under UPC tiket among others.
