Moroto county mp Samuel Okwir dragged to court for failure to pay 120million Ug shillings

A businessman based in Aboke Sub County, Kole district has dragged the proprietor of Ogini millers also Moroto county MP, Samuel Okwir Odwe to court over failure to pay his debt of 120 million shillings.

Morris Okwir said that in April last year; Okwir Odwe got 200 tons of maize from him at a rate of 1,350 per kilo which cost over 300 million shillings.

Morris Okwir said Okwir Odwe paid 20 million shillings and promised to pay the balance later.

He said Okwir Odwe was able to pay part of the money but still remained with a balance of 120 million shillings which he has since failed to clear.

Morris Okwir narrated that Okwir Odwe wrote a cheque of 120 million shillings but when he took it to Centenary Bank he was told there was no money on the accounts of Ogini millers.

Okwir Morris said the legislators later told him that he was still waiting for a request for a loan from the African development bank which money he will use to pay some of his debts.

Morris Okwir through his lawyer, Mike Abwang Otim has now dragged Okwir Odwe to court to demand for his money

Aboke Sub County chairman Bony Cana expressed disappointment with failure by MP Okwir Odwe to pay the debt, much as he was supposed to be supporting development of the people of Lango and the region

Samuel Okwir Odwe couldn’t be reached for comments as his phone was switched off by press time.

However, the manager of Ogini millers Bony Otim acknowledged that they owe Morris Okwir the said money and were in the process of paying the debt but they halted the same since the matter is now before court.
