No more Nodding syndrome effection in Uganda- Government.
Research has indicated that Uganda nologer register any new cases of Nodding syndrome but government advised to set up rehabilitation centers for affected children to easy the burden on parents and allow them go ahead with their social economic activities that earn them money.
For the last 15 years scientist funded by Medical research Council and United Kingdom have been conducting a research on treatment and elimination of nodding syndrome in Uganda and this come into plan following initial reports of a mysterious disease, characterized by abouts of head nodding and affecting several children first in parts of the Old Kitgum district then the ministry of health iniated an investigation in 2009 and culminated into a multisectoral intervention program launched in 2021 hence the eventual control of the disease today.
While addressing journalists at Makerere University college of health science,Mulago , Dr Jane Ruth Aceng the minister of health in the country appualed the efforts by the scientist to help you get read out of the disease
However he has condemned politicians in Acholi and Lango Sub region how have been talking bad about the research on nodding disease.
Meanwhile, Dr Richard Idro, the associate professior among who conducted the research says although the disease has been broken down much efforts is needed to fight bleeding sites of the transmitting blackflies.
