Otuke district council resolved transfer of deputy RDC And DPC.

Otuke district council has resolved to have the District Police Commander and deputy Resident District Commissioner of Otuke district to be transferred over the recent arrest of district leaders in Lango who had organized a security meeting to discuss the rising cattle theft by suspected Karamojong cattle rustlers in Otuke and Alebtong districts.

Last week on Friday, Otuke district council resolved to write to the ministry of local government and office of the president and the Inspector General of Police to request for the transfer of the District Police Commander of Otuke, Sadat Sabila and the deputy Resident District Commissioner of Otuke Akol Godfrey Oumu whom they say are not supporting the fight against the cattle rustlers.

The speaker of Otuke district council Lameck Ogwal said since the DPC and deputy RDC of Otuke went to arrest some district leaders and also foiled a meeting organized in Acanpii, on 20th/05/2023 to discuss and derive solution to cattle rustling, they can no longer continue to work with them because they have proven not to be ready to support them in fighting the cattle rustlers.

The chairperson of Lango district chairpersons and mayors’ forum also Alebtong district LCV chairman David Kennedy Odongo also accused the deputy RDC of Otuke Akol Godfrey Oumo on the day that the district leaders from Lango were arrested of laxity to fight the cattle rustlers.

The speaker of Otuke Ogwal Lameck and the district chairman Francis Abola who were among those arrested at the meeting also called for the transfer of the deputy RDC whom they said was not willing to restore peace in Otuke.

The deputy RDC of Otuke Akol Godfrey declined to comment on the matter, although on the day that the meeting was dispersed, he had said Lango district leaders had organized an unlawful assembly.
