The 16th edition of Som Inter-Project Chess championship set off.

The 16th edition of Som Inter-Project Chess championship 2023 has started today with over 280 participants expected from different categories.

The four days tournament will climax on thursday 14th of December at Sports Outreach Resource Centre located at Kiwawu Mityana road.

Participants have come from different parts of the country after qualifying from their respective centres that accommodate over 2000 children.

The tournament has attracted participants from Kampala, Masaka, Hoima, Gulu and Kenya, to compete in ‘Rated and Unrated’ categories of Under 10, 12,14,16 and 18years of age.

Robert Katende the founder of the tournament has applauded all the participants for the love of the game besides all the financial difficulties.

This tournament is aiming at transforming lives and instilling hope to the people through chess.
