A building kills two in Lira City.

The territorial command at Lira-City CPS are investigating circumstances under which a building which was under construction collapsed and killed two people, injuring ten other staff.

According to SP Patrick Jimmy Akena the Police spokesperson North Kyoga region the report was brought to the attention of the police by one Omara Yoventine aged 62 years old a Lango and self employed a resident at Starch Factory A Adyel A ward Lira City .

The deceased have been identified as Olel Justine m/a 55 yrs Lango and Ilem Isaac an Itesot all are porters

It’s alleged that yesterday the 6th June 2023 at around 1600 hours at Peacock Hotel in senior quarters lira City East division, there was a construction going on at the said building in Lira City, the building is believed to have collasped burying two and injuring ten
.
The deceased were removed with the help of an excavator.
Scene visited by both DPCs of West Division and CPS, Division CID Officer, Lira City CPS and Homicide team.
Injured rushed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital for treatment, while the dead bodies conveyed to the Hospitals Mortuary for Postmortem.

We are yet to get statement from the owner of the building and also confirm approvals from City engineering team for the construction of that building.
