FOUR SUSPECTED IN THE MURDER OF 65-YEAR-OLD MAN IN LIRA CITY.

THE Police at CPS Lira has apprehended four suspects in connection to the death of Alfred Ogwang,a resident of Okwor-Okwor Cell, Burlobo Ward, Lira East Division in Lira City.

The matter was reported on the
21st Aug 2023, at around 0600 hours by the area LC1 chairman Moses Okullo.

It’s alleged that on 20th Aug 2023, at around 2300 hours,a one Joshua Apita had a fight with his wife Filly Awor, which prompted the now deceased Ogwang to rush to cool the situation.

Ogwang is the father of Apita.

In what looked like a premeditated incident, Apita and other children turned against their father, whom they clobbered using clubs and a hand-hoe to death.

In a desperate attempt to conceal evidence, they pulled the lifeless body of the old man and dumped into a nearby site where builders had excavated murrum.

On receipt of this information, a case file of murder was registered at Lira-City CPS, a crime scene visited by a team of police officers, including the SOCO(scene of crime officer).

SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the North Kyoga Regional spokesperson, confirmed the incident,saying the body was picked and conveyed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital’s mortuary pending Postmoterm

Okema identified that the four suspects as
Apita Joshua, who’s also alleged to be an opium smoker,
Aluri Dickens.,. Awor Filly
and Abeja Scovia.

Police have used the incident to caution couples to always respect the elders and avoid such criminal acts.
