FUEL TANKER CATCHES FIRE NEAR LIRA CITY.

The North Kyoga fire prevention and rescue services responded to a scene of a fuel tanker that caught fire today, the 6th September 2023 at around 5:30 am at Gwengabara Boroboro Ward Lira-City East Division along the Lira-Soroti highway.

According to the police, a fuel tanker Reg No SSD 321V belonging to Narus Company Ltd Kenya was being driven by Mohamed Ibrahim 32 yrs old, a Kenyan national traveling from Eldoret in Kenya to Juba in South Sudan while carrying unspecified quantity of fuel overturned on the road side in Gwengabara Boro-Boro ward Lira-City East Division and caught fire.

The North Kyoga Fire Bridage responded and extinguished the fire using four delivery hoses and 40 litres of foam in a UP 4741 Fire Engine and UP 4690 Water Tanker.

The regional police spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema, the cause, has not yet been established since the driver is at large.

No injuries registered as the community members never went nearer the actual point.

“….we encourage members of the public to maintain such since it may still as this is not the first we are registering an incident like that…”, Okema cautioned.
