Two women die in bush fire in Apac

Two women on Monday died in a bush fire in Akokoro Sub County in Apac district.

The victims, who include an old woman only identified as Santa and Harriet Angwec had gone to the bush to burn charcoal but were killed in a wild bush around 4 in the evening.

David Otim the vice chairperson of Kampala-Kagoi village where the incident happened said Angwec is a resident of Otwal Sub County in Oyam District but had bought land in Kungu while Santa was a resident of Apoi.

A woman only identified as Monica said the pair had built makeshift grass thatched houses in the bush where they used to burn charcoal but when the fire started they failed to escape.

The District police Commander of Apac David Nadula confirmed the incident adding that the body of the duo will be subjected to a postmortem to ascertain the cause of their death.
