Amolatar councilors fight in council meeting.

Amolatar district council yesterday ended in chaos after councilors threw punches at each other in protest over a move by the deputy speaker Martine Ayonge to suspend the councilor of Agikdak Sub County.

Four councilors including Eryao Moris of Akwon sub county, Orec Ambrose the male youth councilor, Olal Bil Dickens of Amolatar Town Council and Aciro Docus the female councilor of Amolatar Town Council turned rowdy against five police officers that the deputy speaker had ordered to arrest Docus Akome during the council meeting.

Docus Akome said the deputy speaker, Eyonge ordered her out of yesterday’s council meeting, something that did not go well with other councilors, which ended up in fist fights between those in support and those against her as well as the police.

Akome accused Amolatar District chairman Geoffrey Ocen of conniving with Eyonge to suspend her for always demanding for councilors’ allowances.

The speaker was forced to adjourn the meeting that was meant to approve a draft budget for financial year 2023/2024.
