Chess to transform Nansubuga’s life after winning a full scholarship.

When it comes to transforming lives, Som Inter- Project means it. Here comes Nansubuga Maria a second time participant in the championship winning herself a full scholarship, that came with five hundred thousand Ugandan shillings from Georgi Ivanov and Smile for Africa Foundation.

The suprise package was gifted by a friend of Som Chess Academy Daniel from Bulgaria who was impressed with the performance of Nansubuga winning the Unrated girls’ category for the first time.

Nansubuga 12years in primary five at Nakivubo settlement started playing Chess with Som Chess Academy in 2019 and this was her second tournament.

Nansubuga was not promoted to primary six after failure to pay school fees for the final term.

Showing her happiness Nansubuga promised not to give up on Chess and studies after getting this huge opportunity.

The 16th edition of the tournament that started on 11th saw Shagamaya Ashiraf winning the boys’ Urated category, Patricia Kawuma and Kato Richard winning the rated categories in girls and boys respectively.
