Drug shortage affects service delivery to pregnant mothers at Amolatar HCIV .

Drug shortage and absence of an Anesthetic officer at Amolatar HCIV is affecting deliveries among pregnant women.

According to report established between November and December last year, 292 normal deliveries and 35 Caesarian section births were conducted at the health facility.

However, from January this year to date, the figure dropped to only 157 deliveries.  

In December last year, Amolatar HCIV lost its Anesthetic officer called Peter Oruk which affected operations of the facility.

Sr. Hellen Ayoo the in charge Maternity at Amolatar HCIV said they are being forced to refer pregnant women with complications to higher health facilities.

Dr. Jimmy Odongo, Amolatar District health officer said the facility is currently only conducting minor surgeries.
