Justice Opio Aweri was a real epitome of judicial ethics.

The Deputy Chief Justice Richard Butera has eulogized the former Justice of the Supreme Court Rubby Opio Aweri as a real epitome of judicial ethics and integrity.

According to Butera, Opio Aweri has left a wealth of jurisprudence in Uganda’s legal system as a judge of the high court and justice of both Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.

The deputy Chief Justice was speaking Monday afternoon at a special Supreme Court Session held to honor the late Justice Rubby Opio Aweri at the high court gardens in Kampala.

Butera says the former chief inspector of courts Opio Aweri died at a time when his experience, wisdom and counsel are most required.

He added that the fallen Justice of the Supreme Court was also an environmentalist and taught people on how to love nature and plant trees.

Speaking at the same function, the Chairperson of the Judicial Service Commission Justice Benjamin Kabito says during the 39 years of service with the institution, there is no record of any complaint filed against Justice Opio Aweri.

On Tuesday 13th December 2022 , there will be a funeral service at All Saints Cathedral Nakasero starting at 10:00Am.

The cortege will be taken to Parliament for a session at 2:00Pm and thereafter the body will lie in state.

On Wednesday 14th December 2022, the body of the late will be taken to Lira City Hall for Lango leaders to pay tribute at a session beginning at 2; 00Pm

He will be laid to rest on Friday 16th December 2022, at Acung apenyi cell, Kachung Western Ward, Agwata Town Council, Dokolo District
