Prime suspect in kidnap and murder of a seven year old man arrested.

The territorial Police of Kamuli are holding the the 20 year old man who allegedly kidnapped and murdered a seven year old infant.

Waiswa Abudallah was arrested from his hideout in Bombo yesterday in the evening.

The deceased identified as Isabirye John, was son to Muwodi Robert resident of Bulungu zone, Busimba Ward, Namwendwa Town council.

The deceased allegedly went missing at around 08:00PM at night until 09:00PM,when it came to be known that he had been kidnapped by someone unknown at that time.

Preliminary findings at that time indicated that, the suspect picked the victim at the community borehole and took hostage of him, before he started demanding a ransom of Ug Shs 3m from the parents through phone calls.

The demand for ransom kept on adjusting to Ug Shs 50000, which was raised and sent to the suspect. It was further topped up with Ug shs 30000 on demand.

The leadership and residents then embarked on pleading with Waiswa for the possible recovery of the minor. The first attempt did not yield as he gave them wrong information. However, after a series of engagements, he directed him to the nearby sugarcane plantation in the same area where the boy was found dead with signs of strangulation.

At the time of discovery, the Regional Public relations officer and the district community Liaison officer had gone on to engage the community on information that there were threatening to destroy the home of Semakula Isima, father to the suspect.

District police commander and a team of detectives reenforced the team and the scene was visited. The body was conveyed to Kamuli general hospital mortuary for postmortem pending further inquiries. Investigations have yielded progressively with three people in custody, including Dononzio Ayub Ngobi, Ronald Muwanguzi and Waiswa Abudallah Katende.
